Cruise Tourism Event – Register Today

Cruise Planning Workshop

0930 until 1230 –  Thursday 26th April 2018

Gunsgreen House, Gunsgreen Quay, Eyemouth, TD14 5SD

The Cruise Industry is growing! In recent years the global popularity of cruise holidays has seen cruise ship numbers increasing (there are currently 100 new ships on the order book), cruise ship sizes growing (4000/5000 passenger ships are not unusual), and the number of port calls rising. In 2015, around 85 cruise ships visited the River Forth (for Edinburgh). In 2018 we will see 113 ships, bringing around 170,000 passengers. The trend is towards larger ships, but also more expedition vessels looking for smaller ports.

Cruise lines and their shore-based agents are looking for new destinations to explore to cope with this increase in demand.

The CruiseForth Project has been working for the last seven years to connect local businesses with the opportunities from cruise ship visits. With Scottish Enterprise support, the range of activity has extended from the edges of the Forth to include businesses within 90 minutes of the Forth and the Tay, which now draws in Angus, Perthshire, the Forth Valley and the Borders.

The cruise industry provides many opportunities – day visits, overnight in port, cruise and stay trips. Might you be interested in learning more about the opportunities for ‘cruise’ business? How might your involvement attract more cruise passengers. Eyemouth has already seen cruise calls. The potential for visits from Berwick and Newcastle also exists.  Come along and discover how your business could benefit.

You are invited to a morning workshop at Gunsgreen House on Thursday 26th April. It will commence at 9.30am and be finished by 12.30pm at the latest.

Please register with Peter Wilson, Project Manager for CruiseForth, by emailing

There may be limited space, so early registration is requested.
